Remember what 2008 felt like? Once a week reach out to someone in your network, either through LinkedIn, a phone call or email. Learn something new. Promise yourself you'll spend as much time learning about a new technology, for example, as you do playing fantasy football or reading about the Kardashians. Big mistake.

Three of my favourites: 6 – Learn to say “No”. Phone ringing? When I’m doing important work, I also switch off my phone. I think that (1) make a daily plan and (6) learn to say “No&# are two that stand out. There is nothing particularly new in the list, but it does a good job of covering the fundamentals.
