He is 25 years older, and he was my mentor early in my career. In 2005, I wanted to start my own firm and asked if he’d like to partner. I worked with my partner since the 1980s at both a big bank and a small business. Every once in a while, I will call him with questions about clients or past jobs, and we still talk business.
