The shortest route is to look for temp work thru agencies or TaskRabbit, Craiglist, or volunteer. Your best bet is to get a job with an executive that is also climbing the ladder so you follow them as they get promoted. Many pay their dues by working 24/7 the first couple of years before they get more experience or promoted.

The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

For example, I got promoted after being at a company fairly quickly. When I got promoted, I actually gave a gift to the person who got me my first job at the company.

And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. This was mostly as a temp during very slow months when the entire industry was on vacation, but I’m sure the paycheck wasn’t as amazing as yours. I knew I didn’t want to job hunt for more than 6-9 months if I didn’t have to.

It’s a contradiction in that we want to use the vehicle to promote ourselves, but that same vehicle is used for piracy. Here’s your retirement cheque, go build your house, put in a pool, and stay with your girlfriend for the rest of your life,&# then I would probably kill myself. It’s funny. And I like me.
