If you get a question that doesnt relate to the job that youre applying for, this type of question is related to how well you work under pressure. Try to give a range, never give a fixed figure.

I have asked for a raise however, but it was after I considered a move somewhere else and wasnt sure I wanted to go, so gave my employer a chance to match the new salary and they did. I think that during the process of your performance appraisal it would be a good time to bring it up, but I never have.
