Hello Readers - 8 months ago, a reader asked me a question about fraternization and social etiquette at work. I invited half a dozen people but the word spread like wildfire and almost the entire product and engineering team showed up a little after 5:30pm. And what is the best way to present it? Some people in the office were trying to get the remote working as we had a PowerPoint presentation coming up and were calling it things like remote thingy , remote slide clicker, wireless mouse so I finally asked, "Does anyone know what the official name for that thing is?" It's called a Presentation Remote. Thanks Patty.

I was in a workshop today on presentation skills and one of the things they had us do was present something to the group while they filmed us. Other than the extra work I need to do at the gym to tone up and trim down, I saw some good qualities as well and it was helpful to see myself present. Thanks Anonymous for sharing.

Polish up the ol resume It is all right to send your resume out and see what kind of response you get. In this new age of not doing anything more than a quick spell check on documents, make sure you do not have any spelling mistakes in your resume. Job satisfaction is important. They are interested, now what?

Make sure your resume is up to scratch: Your resume should list your skills, your experience in working as a virtual assistant, and any other capabilities that you think potential employers are looking for. Alternatively, you can list yourself with other online placement sites as well.

Some people dont play well in a team and can be like that link in the chain that keeps skipping. What can you do if you are part of a team that is not playing well together? Are you doing your part and contributing to the goals of the team or are you getting bogged down with situations? Good team play can be contagious.

Here is some common-sense etiquette: Screen your calls: Subscribe to call display. However, I think our etiquette hasnt caught up with the technology. Other times we will be talking and I notice his eyes moving to his BlackBerry and I will see he is no longer paying attention to me, but reading emails instead.
