State you’d love to be an EA and learn so much you can be promoted to coordinator, director, manager. The most important thing is to take action and do something different so you can get promoted, get better tasks, that raise, or transition to a different role, dept, company, or industry. Work on your weaknesses.

It says a lot when your boss wants to grow you within the company and promote you. I hated the mental stress and burden of putting everyone else first and getting only the usual thank you’s and words of appreciation. I also thought long and hard about why I was so unhappy and stressed at my job and why I had growing resentment.

Tell us your story on how you went from temping in LA to being the EA of high-profile CEOs. I found every single one of my jobs through a temping agency or by referral. I learned through informational interviews that I should apply to temp agencies. So I left that temp gig and went to work for the CEO.

It’s like stage stress, before walking up on a TV show or a big opening act. It’s a contradiction in that we want to use the vehicle to promote ourselves, but that same vehicle is used for piracy. I think it’s good to change, to reconnect and adapt to whatever environment you fall into. It’s funny.
