Luckily, in my office, we dress in casual clothes all of the time and we do have a corporate policy of being able to dress up in a costume for this event. Check with your Human Resources Department or manager to see if this falls into your corporate policy.

In an effort to eliminate paper, you may want to scan the document, save it as a PDF, and file it in an electronic file. Eliminating the many pictures, mementos, and knick knacks will keep a professional look, but also maintain a pleasant environment. Look into purchasing an all-in-one fax, printer, and copier.

Ive been in offices where loud music is acceptable with people shouting over cubicles at each other, which was perfectly acceptable - it made the environment vibrant and fosters team unity. Our workplace actually has a policy of not allowing them any longer. On the other hand, Ive been in offices where I could hear a pin drop.
