It used to be the secretary did everything for the boss, now the executives do a lot of their own administrative work, such as email management, so a background as an admin assistant can certainly help. If a more experienced assistant comes alongside you and provides mentoring - dont refuse it.

Just being in their presence means being informally mentored by osmosis. A scary moment to share is one time I had 48 hours to pull off a major recruiting event in another country.
