Age discrimination occurs when a manager or boss treats an applicant or employee less favorably due to their age, which applies to younger people with less experience as well as older people who are close to retirement age. They worry that their company may have no strategy or practice for any sort of planned retirement — because most don’t.

I would like to email her after they meet to let her know I am interested in the role. To email her expressing my interest and why I would be great in the role? Any time you interview where this situation occurs you are allowed to ask very politely. Do you think this is a good plan?

I was calling it early retirement for lack of a better term. I gave them lots of notice and was going to 'semi-retire' in three months. That was when I received an email from a friend with a job opportunity. It was for a position starting right away so not in my timeframe so I promptly deleted the email.

I did very well on my interviews and it's down to me and one other EA who already has a full time job. I will answer your questions by addressing your entire email and I will answer from two perspectives - 1) I used to and still sometimes work in a recruiting capacity and 2) as a job applicant and EA.
