After giving notice, and thinking now that it wasn't perhaps the best time for clarity or objectivity, I dusted off my resume, added my now former role, and began applying to likely-sounding prospects. Bear in mind, I had been recruited or referred into my past couple of roles, so my resume hadn't been top of mind for a while.

Are you hanging around in your own role because you feel you haven’t served a long enough period of time for it to be justifiable on your resume? We all have fear of having a resume that you could play hop scotch on. But let me flip this around for you and present another perspective.

Referenced on your resume and your cover letter should be the best number(s) to reach you. You wouldn’t want a potential employer to think you are pursuing opportunities at the expense of your present employer. You should be ready to talk; this means that your resume should be in front of you.

Believe it or not, while some EAs do hold tremendous power, because travel is a very expensive and uncomfortable aspect of business, many executives or companies are very specific on what is or isn't allowed and which airlines they will or won't fly. 1) Focus your resume on your skills/talents vs the job title/chronology.

Speaking of links, if you have an ugly website with horrible copy that doesn’t reflect your skills, please don’t tell us. That said, don’t apply for internet jobs when you just came online, have no skills, no experience, but can definitely learn everything as you go along. Because we won’t. Request, that is.
