I was in a workshop today on presentation skills and one of the things they had us do was present something to the group while they filmed us. Of course, the reason could have been that I was up all night with a sick child or wasnt feeling well myself or I just had an argument with my spouse and was still stewing about it.

The good thing about on-line courses, is anyone can do it from anywhere. I use a place based in Toronto, Canada called Last Minute Training. It works in the same way as last minute flights do. When it gets closer to the course date and it doesnt look like they will fill the seats, they offer the course at a cheaper price.

How you present yourself and what you wear to the office can help how you feel about what you are doing. Of course you have to be prepared and know your stuff, but knowing you look good when you walk in the door will do wonders on how you present yourself. We really dont have an excuse because it is becoming increasingly easy to take courses online. I have had great experiences learning online in interactive courses. Some things I have on this list is a memory stick with the minute templates, tentcards, meals ordered, meeting packages, pen, notebook, highlighter, calculator (I hate math so just in case they ask something that requires mathematical skills) and attendance records to establish quorum for each meeting. It is interesting work.

Each meeting has some differences, but usually the basics are the same so your checklist can be pre-populated with those things so you can re-use it for each meeting. Of course that usually doesnt happen at work so I take about an hour of my home time, but it is well worth it the next day. Great article! 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.
