When the HVAC system was installed, someone thought we might want the user manual for the system: a 400 page PDF document. Instead of filing the PDF on the network, the document was printed and placed in a filing cabinet , where it will sit until doomsday or at least until someone cleans out those files. It adds up. It adds up.

Sadly, the outsourcer failed to purchase software, installing the same copy again and again. The company paid a penalty to exit the contract and had to purchase the unlicensed software, taking a serious hit to profitability. It may be cost-effective to bring some functions in-house. Businesspeople understand investment, as opposed to cost. Prices always tend towards marginal costs. My blog is my proof of purchase. I sat and waited for nearly two weeks without even having a listen, because I wanted the PDF transcription I could read, simply because I don’t like audio. They have a budget.
