A few years ago I was working as a PA to a senior board director in an organisation full of project managers, engineers and specialist technicians. Everyone was placed in a salary band depending on their experience and their skills. My salary was good and I was happy with my lot. Bummer, right?

I keep myself refreshed in basic computer skills and attend webinars and conferences on best EA practice, but no formal qualifications. At a previous employer, an Admin had just achieved her BSBA and applied for a Project Manager position. No, but know of a friend who had no degree and got offered a lower salary.
