However, even after taking many classes on the various programs I still haven’t gotten any new tasks. I would like to get better assignments, promoted, or get a raise before a few more years go by. I can not stress volunteering enough to spruce up your resume for when are you ready to leave your current company.

It says a lot when your boss wants to grow you within the company and promote you. I hated the mental stress and burden of putting everyone else first and getting only the usual thank you’s and words of appreciation. Outside of work, I started to take classes at night (and even on the weekends).

Sign up with the major job hunting sites with your resume and profile, join social network sites geared towards work, and meet with every temp agency in town just to be safe. The amount of skill, pressure, stress, and problem solving differs at each of those levels. How can you make yourself easily found?

Those who help the company become more innovative or strategic will make themselves key players – and those are the people a company is more likely to retain and promote. Ask your boss for opportunities to train in other departments, or to attend seminars or classes at a local university. Get more training. Don’t gossip at work.

I knew I didn’t want to job hunt for more than 6-9 months if I didn’t have to. And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness. So I read a lot about happiness, job hunting, and a meaningful life. I’m not sure how your job hunting experience was.
