As a speaker you have a number of things to juggle -- proposals, marketing collateral, networking conversations, presentation material, contracts, travel, etc. Unless you have business processes in place, you may find your business growing "out of control." Promptly fill any orders for your products.

I learned the hard way. Keep a regular list of clients to whom you’ve provided your services (even pro-bono) and send them an annual update (I usually write formal Christmas cards) thanking them for their patronage and letting them know about business goals for the next year. 6.

Doesn’t have an office and most of the time doesn’t have business cards either (the new dial tone being twitter , of course). Whenever I have to learn something new or have to dig in after some interesting concepts, doing this in my backyard seems to be the best way to do it. For a digital nomad the world is the office.

When I was a graduate student, I was mildly surprised to learn that a thesis statement could expand into an entire thesis. I take my best content and turn it into workshops and allow people to play with and I hope learn from the ideas. If I didn't learn the art of repurposing content, I'd be in trouble!
