There is a local chapter for IAAP but I don't find it to have the content and structure that I'm looking for. Perhaps after some smart negotiating you can have it worked into the budget for future years. I am trying to find a local networking association. I've been a member and have attended these meetings).

What Are You Thankful For?

Some have lost jobs, didn’t get promotions or pay raises, or lost funding due to employer budget cuts. Shortly thereafter, I received the IAAP Member of Excellence and the CAP certification. Admittedly, this year has been challenging- economically and environmentally. This was a very busy year for me.
