She said that new assistants are mentored for the first year of their working career. They work initially as an assistant-in-training and report to a senior assistant for mentoring and help with anything that comes up on the job. Because of this mentoring program they had no problem hiring young assistants right out of college.

This August will be my one-year anniversary of starting my blog. Over 250 articles later and here I am still blogging. What I have learned as a blogger Blogging about your career is an excellent way to present yourself to a potential employer. I have gained confidence in what I do from reading and writing about it.

Yesterday, we had that rare opportunity to sit with each other at the NSTech Corporate IAAP Chapter Executive of the Year Luncheon/Awards. I, just as Joan did when she was an assistant, love it when she brings me tasks that are more complex – it proves to me that she has the confidence in me to get the job done and she trusts that I will.
