I tried my best to not be tethered to my phone, emails, texting and more. As you view everything that has come across your desk whether they are phone calls, new assignments from your executive or your own project work: Assess all of it. It really is important to take a vacation when you are on vacation. Prioritize and then focus.

I sat at my kitchen table watching my phone blow up while people were emailing and IM’ing me all at the same time wanting to know why they couldn’t get on the call. Now that I think about it, when I was interviewed by the other assistant, they were wearing athletic attire and I was wearing a suit! You can just write “Thx!”

If you choose to use Uber and Lyft for your the traveler, make sure their phone already has the app downloaded and is properly linked to their credit cards.
