Perhaps you are already a 2nd or 3rd assistant to someone high profile and you want to run the office of your executive as you get promoted through the years. They also walk the fine line of wanting someone who knows the job, but not so well that they are bored and were ready for a promotion 3 years ago. I would ask how long the temp status was for, and negotiate a deal that makes sense for you to not have sick days, paid holidays, benefits, etc. In hindsight, I am 99.9%

Successful executives are rarely lazy and slow if they earned their title from being promoted through hard work and not nepotism, etc. Can you work on weekends and/or holidays? This also could be an objective assessment from anyone. You mentioned: I really would like to align myself with this new senior leader.
