I just got my new issue of OfficePro (the IAAP magazine for office professionals) and it was a great read on the bus the last few mornings. This is the time of year that most people stress over because we are waiting for documents like W2’s, mortgage statements, 1099’s, and other information in order to file taxes. Tax season doesn’t have to be a tear jerker.

We aren't in the same office anymore, but we now meet monthly to go to our local chapter's IAAP dinner meeting and then spend the drive home catching up on what each of us is up to. And the same for another person I worked with. When I was younger I became good friends with someone I worked with and then I became their boss.

Do you need someone to talk to during the day when you are stressed? Believe me, it is the best form of release therapy! Shortly thereafter, I received the IAAP Member of Excellence and the CAP certification. Or do you have a question, call a member! My advice is to grab a member and become a mentor or get mentored!

Minute taking definitely isnt easy, but it doesnt have to be stressful. In its simplest form minutes are a record of discussion, decisions and actions to be taken and the date by when it needs to be completed. The CPS certification from IAAP was a very positive step which encouraged me to finish my BA degree. That’s when I turned to IAAP and am currently working towards my CAP-OM certification. This year I will be seeking some EA certifications through IAAP and Office Dynamics in order to keep my skills fresh and relevant.
