And benefits, such as paid health insurance, is a huge plus. One other thing I’d add for freelancing–and it’s either a pro or a con depending how you look at it–is that you need to build your network of freelancers through professional organizations, meetups or some other way. This is a biggie.

Doing all of that at once also helped me develop strong organizing and executing skills! After thinking about it for awhile, I realized my design education does help me when coding, the organization and visual cues you learn in graphic design go a long way when slicing a PSD or planning the way you’re going to code a site.

By starting to organize the app at a higher level I created a bit of light over the whole project. Now I had a complete visual implementation: tasks were nicely organized by date in Today, Soon and Overdue. I also added a Help and FAQ section. Calling the class in other views was problematic, though. Loads of bugs.
