In Arizona, at the Oro Valley Public Library, customer appreciation cards are given to everyone when they make a purchase at one of the bookstores for more than $5. Each time they get a stamp, and when they get ten stamps, the card can be redeemed at any of the affiliated book stores for $5 off any purchase.

As an example, today I was doing a hefty grocery shopping run since my son was coming home from for the holidays. And by the time the cashier had finished ringing up my purchases, the associate returned with the chocolate muffins! I always receive reminders, special offers, and discounts via email and regular mail.

It didn’t work at all as described and I emailed him to ask “did you actually use this or are you just selling it for the affiliate income?&# I guess it depends on the circumstances and size/importance of the purchase. Liking the author doesn’t factor into that first purchase anywhere. It isn’t.
