Then you finally do reach a live person and you are so fed up with all of the time wasted, that you start fuming towards the person on the other end of the phone. Providing excellent customer service is crucial. Passing the buck to another co-worker or department can result in customer frustration and might end in a spin off of negative results. They most likely will stop using your product/service, but also, they would end up telling their friends.

The good news is that I now have free time to start my own business (if I don't end up finding something permanent) and hope that this new venture will take off like a rocket!
