Achor was a teaching assistant for Harvard’s positive psychology course, taught by his mentor, Tal Ben-Shahar, Ph.D. The class was among the university’s most popular courses. Of course, you have the one group who is gung-ho, but realistic. They want you ready-formed with skills you can use day one. Destroying someone's self esteem doesn't actually make them better. And I do understand that money does not buy happiness, etc etc, but we do heroes, mentors and models of good behavior.

This builds your self-esteem, and the person you contact will remember that you made the effort to talk to them. Usually, when something is very easy, it is not impressive in any shape or form. And of course in the doing, the getting takes care of itself anyway. And to get out of your own way for a while.

It was free because it was idle; it wasn’t supposed to be the sort of business expertise that many companies would shell out good money for in the form of a consultant. Of course not.
