A well organised travel itinerary is an essential service that assistants can provide for their managers. Think about all the different bits of paper you have to keep with you – tickets, hotel details, travel guides. One of my directors travelled from Sydney to Tokyo on the same trip.

Don’t get me wrong they still travel for Board meetings and client engagement but they don’t get on a flight simply because there are no alternatives to getting everyone together. Pros: Multiple locations across all time zones. Once the initial cost of equipment has been paid teleconferencing is inexpensive.

Pay attention or it could cost your company money. One time we had to cancel at the last minute, but we were a few days past the cancellation date. It was going to cost our company $5,000 plus in cancellation fees. There were charges for audio visual equipment that we never ordered. It could save your company some money.
