I like working with someone who has initiative, wants to do a good job and is keen to contribute to the team, but is there a time when initiative is not a good thing? I always feel more confident when a new hire asks me a question and gets all the information before proceeding. I dont see it as a weakness, but as a strength.

A manager has to have confidence that you know how to do your job. I just did not have confidence that this person was going to be able to assist me. The best situation is if you work together as a team, but how can you get there? I always have more confidence something will get done when I see it being written down.

I read something that made me pause, but because I was in a big hurry and felt confident that the other person was covering that base, I let it go. I am not sure if it would have changed the outcome, but at least I would feel confident that I flagged it for my boss. I am not a legal expert and do not claim to give any legal advice.

Employees are bruised and battered (at least psychologically and financially) by companies who have sacked them, forced them to take unpaid leave and slashed pensions and medical benefits. It seems to me more likely to be to others on our team. Loyalty in the workplace isnt something you hear much about these days. Great post!
