From the first phone call to register for the conference to picking up my name tag, the entire team carried out the professionalism of Joan. I got to work directly with the EA to the CEO of the company. Daily huddles are to be done in person or via the phone (not text or email). I use a few good apps special to my needs.

Administrative assistants do more than just assist with the day-to-day activities of a company – in fact, for most employers, they’re Person Fridays without whom nothing gets done. In this new age of not doing anything more than a quick spell check on documents, make sure you do not have any spelling mistakes in your resume. Sometimes I wish I had something to warn me when I am with someone with a cell phone so I can know that we are going to be interrupted. I find it frustrating when people either text while in a conversation or are constantly taking phone calls. Apparently not, when its by phone. In an emergency, the cell phone is a useful tool.

If you have to answer the phone, deal with an email or attend to something for your boss, do so, as that is the nature of the admin job -- multi-tasking, but once you have done it, go right back to your to-do list, re-focus and continue what you were doing.
