Luckily, in my office, we dress in casual clothes all of the time and we do have a corporate policy of being able to dress up in a costume for this event. This has been a tradition in our office for quite some time now, where people would decorate the office, dress up in funky costumes and bring baked treats for everyone.

I have set up a folder for Google Alerts to keep me updated on what is new in my profession. It feels like I just went through my closet and threw a whole bunch of clothes out that I never wear. They are now at my convenience, rather than being in my face every time I look in my Inbox. With my new rule they go directly to that folder.

Dress in comfortable clothes (I recommend Hawaiian shirts). Answer the phone now and then. If you turn white and get all knee-wobbly at the thought of picking up the phone and introducing yourself to a prospective client, keep your day job. I have to admit that freelancing can get a little lonely. Smoke breaks with friends.
