Offer to do a free class or workshop at your local library, women’s business network, or community center, and send press releases to local papers, radio, television, and local business newsletters, such as those sent out by the chamber of commerce. Get to know the managers or owners of these businesses.

As a speaker you have a number of things to juggle -- proposals, marketing collateral, networking conversations, presentation material, contracts, travel, etc. Unless you have business processes in place, you may find your business growing "out of control." I also can use the recording to make a cd and give to potential clients or current clients instead of a business card or brochure. I've used client news on emerging trends that debuted originally as a press release to create speaking abstracts for conference and panel pitches. Thanks to Carin Galletta of Ink Foundry.
