E-mail is no longer just for personal use, with all our accepted short forms: LOL, U, GB and a co-workers favourite, OMG! With the increasing use of e-mail as the first choice for business correspondence it opens a whole new world of dos and donts for the assistant. Writing all in caps is a form of e-mail shouting.

Just this: If you are trying to give yourself a shortcut by not asking for your clients’ permission before you sign them up for your sales list, newsletter, or any other form of unsolicited information, you’re shooting yourself in the foot. In the US it’s legal to sign someone up to your email list without asking their permission.
