Sometimes they’ll pick up those clues via written channels : They note the tone of your email. They check your email footer for info. They search for your LinkedIn profile.

Luckily, in my office, we dress in casual clothes all of the time and we do have a corporate policy of being able to dress up in a costume for this event. This has been a tradition in our office for quite some time now, where people would decorate the office, dress up in funky costumes and bring baked treats for everyone.

Dont eat something while waiting for your interview -- it can give you bad breath and you risk getting something stuck between your teeth or crumbs on your clothes. Of course, I have taken it a step further and Googled the people I know who are going to be interviewing me. And the receptionist will notice if youre a sloppy eater.)

I have set up a folder for Google Alerts to keep me updated on what is new in my profession. It feels like I just went through my closet and threw a whole bunch of clothes out that I never wear. They are now at my convenience, rather than being in my face every time I look in my Inbox. With my new rule they go directly to that folder.
