Final e-filing regs. The IRS punted on its final regulations , dropping the mandatory e-filing threshold for information returns for 2021 and 2022 W-2s, 1099s, and 1095s. It’s unlikely it will postpone releasing the final regs for yet another filing season. These regs will scoop up smaller employers into the e-filing net.

Depending on when your bank sends the direct deposit files along to employees’ banks, employees can usually access their pay a day early. What is new: Banks are making funds available up to two days before receiving your bank’s direct deposit files. Update to on-demand budget provisions. You don’t have to vary your pay schedule.

It’s a rare occurrence when reading an article about a city budget makes me sad, but it happened just a few moments ago. The article discussed how the City of Hickory, NC proposed offering early retirement to 84 of their employees. Even the medical field , infamous for paperwork, is transitioning to electronic files.
