One of the most surprising things for me was to learn that not all companies will give you an expense account or a company credit card. The shortest route is to look for temp work thru agencies or TaskRabbit, Craiglist, or volunteer. Be honest you understand the paycut and why it doesn't bother you at the appropriate time in the interview process. Your best bet is to get some experience in admin and being an EA thru temping or other contract work.

After only 2 weeks, I found a great company through a staffing agency and the position was full time working for a wonderful CEO. I did very well on my interviews and it's down to me and one other EA who already has a full time job. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position.
