I was out of work, temping here and there for a year. Don’t underestimate the value of temping. Working for a temp agency can either land you a full-time job or help to keep you employed while you are looking. Taking on temp jobs will introduce you to potential employers where you can showcase your abilities.

Although you don’t have to contribute or offer the same amount as everyone else, you should have it in your budget. Sometimes companies don’t validate for parking especially if you are doing testing at a temp agency and are there for a few hours. Have money for job hunting and working.

Even though I am an EA with over 15 years of experience at the C-level, it seems that all the recruiting agencies I have approached still require an applicant to come in for an appointment to take their basic employment testing, and then only seem to be able to offer lower-level administrative jobs.
