Anyway here we are in 2014 and I hope that everyone is settling back into work after the Christmas and New Year break. I think assistants will have an interesting 2014, particularly as it is the International Year of the Secretary and Administrative Assistant with lots planned for our professional development. Women Traveling Alone Should Enjoy Themselves. Traveling alone has many benefits. I have been traveling for business for 25 years and 90% of the time, I travel alone. Most of my work as a female professional speaker and corporate trainer takes me across the United States with little international travel (by choice).

Getting off the train at Belfast Central Station I was slightly disappointed the weather was as wet and windy as Dublin, which was where I boarded the train. As there isn’t too much around the hotel itself (although within 10 minutes you are in the town centre) it was really handy having a cafe and restaurant on site.

To be fair I used to travel to university from St Pancras back in the early 2000′s and it was still a little rough around the edges but since then the area between two of London’s busiest train stations has changed completely. Especially for those travelling to and from Europe via St. A great touch, I must say.

I genuinely think 2014 was a turning point in our industry and I think 2015 will see a consolidation of our efforts to take our profession forward. It seems there is a huge appetite for training however we still have issues with our organisation’s paying for us to attend events. It is an exciting step in the right direction.

Despite its slightly outlying location with a compact city like Dundee the hotel is still only 15mins taxi from the train station and only 10mins from the increasingly international focused airport on the banks of the River Tay. After travelling the 100 miles or so from Glasgow we arrived on a typically busy Saturday evening.

I actually walked to the hotel from the central train station, which took about 15 minutes. On my return, the hotel restaurant and bar were buzzing. If your boss is going to Geneva on business Hotel N’vY is a smart choice – it is in a great location, the restaurant and bar are lovely, it is reasonably priced and it has character.
