This weekend is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee which means all of the assistants in the UK get a lovely long bank holiday weekend to celebrate and enjoy all that Great Britain has to offer. To honour her on this fabulous jubilee weekend, here are some things I think we can all learn from the Queen! Be prepared!

Learn to discuss. Learn to disagree without being disagreeable. Know your own weaknesses : Don’t get caught up in gossip. Being cheerful not only makes others feel good, it will make you feel good as well. Keep an open mind : Don’t argue with people. Tearing down another to prop yourself up is a huge waste of time.

I had a big learning curve going into it and I didnt know any of the other assistants so I felt all alone with my challenges. The problem that sometimes occurs with sharing with current co-workers is it can turn into office gossip. I finally had a chance to sit down and read your book over the holiday. Excellent material!

I wouldnt recommend talking about a co-worker with someone at the office or it ends up being gossip and spreads a bad feeling about that person. Don't gossip or share confidential things, but you get my point. If you can't take a vacation, call in sick, take a mental health day, or personal floating holiday if your company offers those. Put the seat cover down, sit, cradle your head in your hands, and just rest your eyes. Nuff said.

It’s not all that bad once you learn how, but it’s not a job for wall flowers. Over the holidays, my husband had paid time off and I was still typing away. I’ve also done the freelancing thing–learning to market myself, developing my money management skills and learned to juggle. This is a biggie.
