One of the most surprising things for me was to learn that not all companies will give you an expense account or a company credit card. Sometimes companies don’t validate for parking especially if you are doing testing at a temp agency and are there for a few hours. You want to establish relationships outside of the finance world because fitting into a different culture of the media/arts is important. Finance can be perceived as very stuffy, black and white, and sequential and non-chaotic. Since you have already worked at a well known company, you are half way there.

Whenever I meet people for coffee or a meal, I am always interested to learn about them as a person and their work. I love doing informationals because I like learning about what people do, even if I am not in that industry, and perhaps get an office tour down the line, and make a new friend if they introduce me to someone else.
