Finance: An assistant with a head for numbers may be able to move into finance in an accounting or a tax firm. They each had forward-thinking employers who allowed them to have vision and encouraged them to work towards their goal and made room for that new role within their organization.

The goal is to get INFORMATION and ADVICE which almost anyone can provide, not ask for an interview, a favor, or a job. I actively grow my LinkedIn network every week, if not every day. When I hear about a company that interests me for any reason, I look for people who work there to add to my network.
