So I started to say Yes and it was a real confidence booster. But when I turned 40 I told myself that I would regret not doing it if I didnt try and what was the worst thing that could happen anyway? I started telling myself more positive messages and it empowered me to try. Now that’s positive self talk. 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.

I always feel more confident when a new hire asks me a question and gets all the information before proceeding. Your new employer is not expecting you to know everything right away and it is in everyones best interest that you proceed cautiously at first until you know the ropes. I dont see it as a weakness, but as a strength.

Buying a new outfit or wearing a freshly dry-cleaned suit will go a long way to increasing your confidence level. Of course you have to be prepared and know your stuff, but knowing you look good when you walk in the door will do wonders on how you present yourself. What about your work space?

Of course there is a down side to being able to do that. I am good at some things, but not as confident in other things. When you are in a cube you just stick your head up to speak to your neighbour and if you see they are on the phone, you go about doing something else until you hear they are free.

This is something you really need to experiment with and you will gain more confidence to order less and know there will be enough food. Sit down dinners Of course if it is a sit down dinner you have to order for the number of guests you have.

I feel confident as I check off each item that things will be done on time. There are courses on minute taking and Board governance, but also you can learn alot by reading books and asking others who are in this field. It is simply using an on-line calendar with space on each day to enter what needs to be done. No surprises!

They will have confidence that you have a plan and that things wont slip through the cracks and will be able to relax and let you do your job. The first day of each month, I go through the monthly folder and sort the items into the appropriate numbered file to be processed through the course of the new month. Thats great!
