Do you have a a business card? I always felt I should have a business card. I would go so far as to say I felt a bit resentful when colleagues were pulling out business cards in meetings or during networking events and I wouldn’t have anything to hand over to my new contact.

You might not think so but assistants deal with suppliers on a a regular basis. From hotels to stationery manufacturers, car hire companies and venues for events we are constantly procuring suppliers. It is essential that we know how to procure great suppliers and build effective relationship which benefit our organisation.

As you can imagine I am pretty much surrounded by events 24/7 so it made a lovely change last month when I attended the show simply as a delegate! There were many free training sessions for assistants to attend and the exhibitors were all relevant suppliers to the industry which again is not always the case with these types of events!

Getting buy-in IS ACHIEVABLE and I managed to successfully get the following approved: Business Cards. Business Cards: I was the first PA within my last company of 30+ Assistants to request Business Cards. Internal & External Training. Magazine Subscriptions. Support for an Internal PA Network.

Start to build a buzz about your business and what it can do. Host a big launch event and get the all movers and shakers to attend. Have a consistent logo across your business card and company stationery. Create a website that will inform visitors all about your product or service. Build a brand. Make your first sale.

Cons of Planning Tool : Like any other productivity tool, you've got start somewhere so you may have to carry your old business card file or Franklin planner with you for a few weeks before you just to the electronic assistant. Keep it charged!
