What throws me off more is when I interview for senior management at a very atypical company. When I was interviewing to work for a Chairman/CEO as his office Executive Hostess where I greeted clients, served beverages, and was in charge of catering for office functions, I was told what to wear by the girl I was replacing.

They brought him on as the CEO of Industrials and then there is another new CEO at the headquarters who is in charge of Services. They were not old, grubby, smelly, or stained clothes - just very lounge-y comfortable clothes. My CEO is new. We had to know for sure they would not come in (nor my boss’ boss).
