One of the most surprising things for me was to learn that not all companies will give you an expense account or a company credit card. Besides having a checking, retirement account, and a rainy day fund, you should also have a huge savings account of 6 months to a year or more of living funds. Have money for job hunting and working.

After only 2 weeks, I found a great company through a staffing agency and the position was full time working for a wonderful CEO. I did very well on my interviews and it's down to me and one other EA who already has a full time job. If you or any EA was let go of performance issues, that is also factored in when applying for new jobs.
