Tailor your covering letter and CV. I’ve written posts on both covering letters and resumes so all I would add here is that you should tailor your CV and covering letter for each of the jobs you are applying for. Working with recruitment agencies. Dealing with agencies – hum, this is tricky.

I found every single one of my jobs through a temping agency or by referral. I learned through informational interviews that I should apply to temp agencies. Whether based on your cover letter or resume, recruiters only take 6 seconds to see if you are match. If the fit isn’t close enough, they toss or file your resume.
