I’ve been an EA for quite some time now, in fact I started working in 2003 so it has been a decade. The skills you pick up along the assistant career path are invaluable and I for one would not be able to do the job I do today if I hadn’t started as a Team Administrator back in 2003. When I first started working in London in 2003 one of the key initiatives for most companies was corporate social responsibility and more specifically making the office environmentally friendly. Turn off all your electronic equipment before you go home. Recycle any waste paper using the bins provided.

When I first started out as a team administrator back in 2003 despite having a (massively bulky) laptop I rarely worked from home. I didn’t have a blackberry… actually I didn’t have a mobile phone that accepted emails or had the internet so it wasn’t easy to stay connected.

With their technology skills and great social networking abilities, GenY ( born roughly between 1980-2003) previously have found employers willing to meet their expectations.
