Regarding the latter, can he/she even legally ask you to do those things (pick up dry cleaning, get a babysitter for the kids, etc etc?) There are others who mean well, but never have enough time to mentor you. Other people would probably much rather find a new job immediately while not burning bridges or gossiping about it.
