A meeting planner by MY definition is the go-to person within an organization – be it corporate, association or otherwise – charged with the responsibility of planning and executing a meeting or special event. I would maybe work with suppliers in any given city once or twice, while a DMC worked with these same suppliers many times over.

Or the physician who returns a prospective patient’s call on a Saturday, spends 20 minutes on the phone discussing symptoms, and then shares a private cellphone number with instructions to call back if further medical advice is needed. This is where I would definitely look for an accountant who belongs to a professional body, and holds a current and up to date practicing certificate, at least this way I would know this ‘stranger’ has gone through a certain standard of training and will have had to achieve a minimum level of experience before being admitted to membership.
