In an environment that promotes distraction, you’ll likely get nothing done. The Library. Who doesn’t love the library? Libraries are wonderful repositories of books and other information. Libraries also make wonderful work environments. Why the library? The library is supposed to be quiet.

This person can work in a coffee shop, in a library, in airports or train stations. Library I was doing a lot of work in the library immediately after I sold the company, but I don’t think I’ve been there last year. All I had to do was to integrate a C library and call some functions. Still undecided if I was going to follow to iAdd project or settle for the simpler one, with the external C library. I was also able to promote a task to a project in Assess. I managed to compile it, call the functions and log the results.

I’m not talking about the manuals that promote get-rich-quick schemes or dodgy products peddled by snake-oil salespersons. It has an appropriate disclaimer – visible on the website and clearly mentioned in all promotional copy – if the author is not qualified in certain areas. The problem? Those we can spot a mile away.

Which brings me to my next point, I’m trying to promote recognition of analism as a disease. But, I know this one PhD candidate, she works in a library. I have sometimes had conversations along the following lines: Co-worker: I’d love to have landed that promotion. Seems wrong.) I’m not being facetious.
