We had borrowed a friends flat just up the road on Argyle Street which was great but lacked a fundamental and very necessary component – WiFi, which meant that most days were spent locating the best place to work, answer emails and generally know what was going on in the world. Over the summer of 2014 I spent four weeks in Glasgow.

You can imagine my delight when I found out the room was in fact a suite, with separate bedroom and living space, the bed was huge and I managed to not only take a bath but also wandered around in the complementary bathrobe for a good few hours. So I made my way down to the TwoTwentyTwo restaurant and bar.

Practically Perfect PA

The atrium lobby is beautifully designed with Asian inspired decor. There are also a variety of cafes, restaurant and shops dotted throughout the lobby. My afternoon was spent working from my suite but I was pleased I could pop downstairs to the lobby to pick up a Starbucks coffee and a snack. R Steak+Spirits.

Hilton Doubletree, Downtown Montgomery

The moment Rosa Parks refused, politely, to give up her seat to a white man who had boarded the bus, the future of America changed. A massive atrium at the centre of the hotel gives the place a real heart. Heading right will take you up past all of the Civil Rights plaques and buildings. A bus stop. A movement was born.
