Then the 2001 recession hit the Telecom and IT sector. They want you ready-formed with skills you can use day one. Destroying someone's self esteem doesn't actually make them better. In the IT sector, there was a time when IT professionals demanded outrageous perks and benefits. No longer the case.

Especially when you’re inexperienced, self-esteem issues come into play – having people you respect say that you’re doing something right. No matter what you do, there will always be folks who feel you’re whoring yourself out in some form or another, but if it works, I don’t have a problem with it.
