In every survey taken over the last 20 years, managing paperwork falls in the top ten time-wasting activities of managers. In 2005, there was 50% more paper and filing in offices than there was in 1995. During the last 25 years, our leisure time has declined by 37% while our work hours have increased by a full day, (8 hours).

In a recent survey, 624 respondents presented 230 different titles! Joan said she sometimes hears people say, “I’m just the assistant …” when in actuality, that person should state that she “is the strategic business partner” for so and so. There is great confusion about the administrative title.
